Shoe Making Classes
24 August 2010
Here are just a few of the pictures from a recent shoe making class. Thanks everyone involved for helping make it a huge success! There will be another class soon at John C. Campbell Folk School. Look for an update on the classes page with a link to register soon.

hey look, our shoes are famous!!!! thanks for a great class and helping us put our best foot forward….i can’t wait to make my next pair, carrie has called dibs… you know so much and are so quick to share and are so much fun that i wish the class could have lasted for weeks!
Is there a shoe-making class before winter? I am in great need of vegetable tanned leather shoes without rubber and chemically unfriendly glues, so I think I will have to make my own. I am an expert seamstress.
Any suggestions? Prices? Dates?
Thank you very much,
Wanda Cooley
Hi Wanda. Sorry the shoe making class we are having in September is full. There will be another August 2012. However we do use rubber and Barge cement. This does not mean that you can not learn from me and change the materials for your shoes after you have learned the skills. You might also want to check out Sharon Raymond shoes online. Good luck.
The shoes I make are commercial tanned leather,( some chrome tan), and we use contact cement. If you want to take our class, perhaps you could learn the basics, and vary your methods. Yes, there is a shoe making class in September. It has filled, but, you can still be on the waiting list. Sometimes people drop out. There will be 2 shoe making classes in 2012. May 27-June 1 will be sandals, and August 16-21, shoes. this will be at the John C. Campbell folk School. However, you will not be able to register for these classes until the online catalog is up dated. See our classes page for the link.
FANTASTIC. Wearing these shoes you probably can feel like you are in the dark ages:)
